The influence of the sizes of conjugacy classes and character degrees on the group structure is investigated by many intensively. It has long been a well known open problem that if one can read off the solvability of a finite group in terms of the set of

the sizes of conjugacy classes or the set of irreducible character degrees. This is resolved recently. We will survey related progress.

报告人简介:

张继平教授，北京大学博士生导师，现任国际数学家联盟发展与交流委员会委员，教育部科技委数理部常务副主任。曾任北京大学数学学院经理、中国数学会副理事长。曾获教育部科技进步一等奖、国家自然科学奖、陈省身数学奖等奖励，并荣获"国家级有突出贡献的中青年专家"、"全国优秀科技工作者"和"全国五一劳动奖章"等称号。主要从事代数学研究，在有限群及其模表示论研究中取得了杰出的学术成就。
